Choco News: Its a Boy!

Aww.. he is so cute ^^

His name is : Capitaine Jack

Hatched: 8/29/06

I took him for a couple of walks, and he met a friend named Air. It was very cute. I wish I could figure out how to do screenshots during cut scenes, but I can’t seem to make it work.

Egg bought: a “bit” warm to the touch, and it hatched on the fourth day

so far they say that he doesn’t have any preference to weather, and he always wants to be with me .. aw *heart melting*

I have fed him once, a gysahl green, which made him niether hungry or full. My intention I think is to not try and feed him unless he is hungry, because I’m afraid to over feed him and have to buy the special grass that cures stomach ache or illness.. as it cost about 100k..  O.o

I am going to see if maybe I can grow some of that grass, although I’m a bit disheartened because I tried to grow saruta oranges with my mule Laurelai and yesterday when I harvested I ended up with 5 ice crystals.. :(   but I’ll try again..  I don’t seem to have much luck with the crafting or the gardening so far. I tend to lose items more than successfully craft anything… :(   but I guess if it was easy, then everyone would do it huh?

I almost think I’m going to have to go do alot of farming for gil  — beware orcs & goblins of Ronfaure– because now I have a baby boy choco to feed.. lol.

Garlaige Citadel …. not my favorite place.. how about you?

Went with our subjob static the last two nights. It was so crazy and there were so many people there. At one point we were camped by the first Banishing gates, and after our first fight another party formed and camped right beside us. We were early thirties, and they were later thirties group so it ended up being ok. The first time we had a link the other group had the opportunity, but they kinda just let us wipe..  I think they were hoping we’d leave. But one of our members was a known longtime player and the whitemage from the other team agreed to raise our whitemage after thier next fight.

However, then right as our whm was getting raise, he ended up dc’ing. So a RDM that was passing thru the gate took pity on us and raised the three of us that had K’Od, and once our whm reconnected they got another raise, as the first one didn’t take .. lol. We all healed and continued to party. Later on the other party got a link, however we did pull it off of them. 

I also pulled off my first Magic Burst!!  Kauri and Kinkykitty (both nin/war) were able to do a weaponskill of fragmentation. I looked it up real quick, and the next time they did it I casted Aero and got a Magic Burst of 65. (now I know that may not be that impressive – but I have to tell you I was just happy to actually have it happen ) *thank you Taritai for the blm advice!!* Log works very well. :)   – assuming someone else doesn’t cast before I do..  However at one point both the rdm & I casted Aero at the same time and it Magic Burst twice? Not sure if that happens much, or if it was a glitch, but I wasn’t complaining.

If I a blm could skill up on escape alone.. I probably would have yesterday..  >< … at one point I actually had to use my two hour to escape us. Once we were out I did a Curaga real quick before my Manafont wore off. It was fun though, and I’m actually kinda liking the blackmage. Its nice not having to worry about how to get home after a fight, or having to buy instant warp scrolls. I kind of look forward to being able to D2 people.  But that’s awhile away..

Got an interesting picture … lol.. one of the trips back in to our camp, I took this one… I had to look twice because at first I thought there was a tiny beetle on the ground, then realized it was down stairs in the basement. Around the corner is a beelte too.. lol.. and our RDM named Hide.. was hiding in the corner to reapply his invisible.. lol.

It was fun though, anytime I get to spend with my friends, makes the night worth it. ^^

“The last 2 are from last night. Nidhogg is the high quality version of Fafnir in Dragon’s Aery (which is in The Boyahda Tree). Fafnir normally pops once every 21-24 hours, but on the fourth pop there is a 80% chance it is Nidhogg.”

Busy week / Garuda / Choco Egg / Gardening

 It has been a really busy week this week so I haven’t played much, however I should mention that last weekend we went and battled Shiva  (on Ice Day no less – wouldn’t advise it.. lol) and got the whisper for her. We also went and fought Garuda! This I was particularly excited about because now I can actually summon her!!  yay Katella!! :) She is the one I was missing for the regular avatar summons (excluding Fenrir & Diablos – which will be the ones to work on next after I get more whisps)

Last night, (just like every other person on the server it seems) I made a special trip to Jeuno to purchase a chocobo egg.  So there are five different kind of eggs, all pretty much identical except for one word in the phrasing..  Three are  available for purchase, and the other two are recieved thru BCNM or ISNM (not sure which) battles.  I bought the egg that was a “Bit” warm to the touch.  My theory on this is that I thought I saw somewhere there where 5 different types of chocobo breeds or whatever. (I could be wrong, but that is what I thought I had seen before). So maybe the wording difference in the description holds the key to which breed you will get???  Since the difference is so subtle, maybe it won’t be obviously appearent…???  Just a thought. I’ll let you know what “type” I get out of my “bit” warm to the touch egg.

Since I knew I would now having to be logging in daily for my chocobo for the next month, I decided to have one of my mule’s try gardening while I’m at it.   I bought a Ceramic pot, and am hoping to follow the directions and be able to harvest some Saruta oranges to give to Katella to skill cooking with and make orange juice.  Thats the idea anyway.. lets see how that goes.

Blue Mage / slight rant

Healing breeze….

That was was our reason for being in Tahrongi Canyon last night, and despite the fact that we attacked over 20 mobs, we still didn’t end up with it, but we had fun anyway, It’s a good job to duo or pt with other bluemages, and alot of fun with friends. lol..

Blue Mage can be really fun, and really frustrating at the same time.  I do like though that it is really tied into the time and effort you put into it. You can’t just run out and buy the spells, and if you do it correctly, you go back and forth between exping and spell collecting, making for a nice change of pace… It seems to be one of the only jobs where if you want to be really good at it, it takes more than just having the gil to buy stuff, and trying to speed level, like so many do with thier jobs now. With Blu, if you level too quickly, it can actually make it more difficult to learn some of the lower level, yet useful spells. If you kill the mob too quick, or if you can’t hardly touch the mob because you are too high, then you aren’t feeding it tp so that it will do its move… and if it doesn’t do the move, you can’t learn it.  It’s kind of hard to go backwards with this job. And.. metallicbody (stoneskin) at lvl 8!!! who can argue with that :)

It makes me kind of snicker at the people who rushed to get this new job to 75. The whole essence of the job is the spells, so what good are you if you are a level 75 blu with only a few spells? What is the hurry for people.. don’t you know that the fun is in the journey, not in the end??  Ya they have added stuff so that at 75 you can gain some more attributes.. but then what?

 Just on to the next job? Relax a little enjoy life , and enjoy the game. I like to level just like everyone else, but I think I will actually be a little sad when my whm get’s to 75, because there will be less opportunity to learn the job & play the game, as I most likely won’t be an endgame  gamer. My real life obligations will not allow for me to spend enough time to accomplish what the endgame stuff needs, so I will be on the outside looking in if I want to play whm by then.  ;;

I talked to someone the other day who told me it took only one month from start of a job to 75 of that job.  My jaw dropped. I honestly can say that I would most likely not be excited to have someone like that in my party. The speed leveling trend makes for really newbish 75’s who have an attitude that they have accomplished something great even though they just hurried thru the job, not bothering to understand it nor doing thier best at being a team member. And then because they have a “75″ lvl job, that makes them “experts” on how everything, and everyone should play thier characters.

pet peeve #1  Speed leveling / completely powerleveled players who are hand held throughout the entire game.

pet peeve #2  People who invite people to parties, then whine at them about thier subjob choices, when they saw what they were before they even invited them.  (sorry throw-back thought from the last party I had with my friend who was rdm/nin and was getting flack for it). 

ok.. /rant off… sorry.

We’ll probably try again for healing breeze tonight, so hopefully I’ll have good news to post in the blog later. ^^

new static

So my static that had not partied together in months, finally were able to get schedules and everything in order so we could party again, except now we are static-ing with our subjobs.

So whm is put on hold again for awhile, but its ok. I’m sure once we get the subjobs up to 37 we’ll be working on our mains again. On the downside it means it will be a while longer until I can wear my healer’s pantaloons that I finally found the coffer for in Crawler’s Nest. (Yay me!!). But its ok, I’m just excited to be able to party with my friends again.

For our subjob static – Kauri & Kinkykitty are both Nin/war, and I am leveling my Blm. We have had two parties so far, and I think I kinda like the blackmage thing too.. ^^ I need to learn about magicbursts though, so guess I need to do some research. I know what they are (so don’t roll your eyes too far back.. lol) but I don’t always know what elemental to use with what weaponskill they use, and I don’t have the timing down either… :(   but I’m sure I’ll get it figured out and maybe even get some friendly advice on the subject ^^. 

 I got teased a little for my occasional curaga here and there, but I don’t mind.. lol. I can’t totally shake the whm mentality..

For the second party we had with our subjob static, we actually picked up another static member who wants to level whm for thier subjob. I was very excited about this, because it should make finding additional members to fill in the party a lot easier.

Sunbreeze Festival 2006 / BlueMage Fun / and…Gary

I had so much fun with this yesterday. Katella and a few friends set out to get our Onago Yukata & our Onnagimi Yukata’s with the Azimuth Circle II.

It was a little disturbing when the directions changed from cardinal directions to “yalms” .. lol.. but we got it figured out. Kind of interesting running in those areas as a level 1.  After we did ours, a low level Friend wanted to go, so I went with them and they were actually able to get thier Mea gate crystal in the process.. :) so it worked out well for them..

The little glyph scroll thingy they give you was kind of cool too!  I’m thinking I might Just do the quest again and see if I can run back.. so I can keep it for future use.. lol. Most likely wouldn’t make it.. :(   but it would be fun to say that you did it,  if you could. :)  

They were smart though because you can’t have more than one of those in your posession. A friend had done the quest and got goblin aggro, and so had to hp back. When he went to pick up the quest again, a little message came up saying he couldn’t have two glyphs.  If that was not the case, you know people would be stock piling those.. lol.

After that I went with Kauri back to Mea to help try and get a couple of Blue Mage spells. Kauri did end up learning ‘Healing Breeze’ and so was very happy, so the trip was considered a success.  We went to Jugner Forest to see If we could get her to learn ‘Claw cyclone’ (I think thats what it is called), but quickly remembered why level 14’s don’t hang out in Junger Forest… lol.  Kauri did however get out alive, and we decided to go to the Dunes instead.. lol :)

After Kauri logged, I got on a boat to finish up my current mission in Aht Urghan.  On the way there, I met up with a new friend named Snipes, who brought me a present …. named Gary……. O.o
