Last week I had picked up a quest called “Disorganized Crime”. In it you are instructed to go and catch some thieves who have been stealing from Lifemend stump outside of Gridania.  I had actually tried the quest on my archer, and had died twice to it as you are up against three NPC’s at once.

Fighting the urge to just try it on my 27 conjurer and AoE them into submission, I decided I really wanted to be able to complete this quest as an archer. The first two times I attempted it, I was at level 21 roughly. I stepped back and leveled a couple times and tried again at 23. It was pretty rewarding this time when I beat them and got the cutscene. Even better when I realized I wasn’t done, and it lead into a whole second part that gave me the option to use the echo. The echo sometimes allows you to go back in time and witness an incident. It actually ended up involving the NPC Kan-E-Senna (basically the leader of Gridania) and what appears to be a younger sister.  I really wish I had known, would have probably had fraps on so I could take pictures during the cut scenes.  I did take a few pictures right before and right after of the NPC Ray-O-Senna.  Beat the quest and was rewarded with story… It was an awesome night!

Last night I spent an hour or so working on my archer and reached level 25.  One more level till I reach my initial goal for Archer which was the Chameleon ability which lets you shed enmity. It has been a goal as the skill can be pulled over to other classes and used for that effect, which would be good when I’m playing with Blindrage, minimizing enmity generated by cures.

Archer has really grown on me, Its never been a class I’ve ever been the least bit interested in, but for some reason I’m really enjoying FFXIV’s rendition of the class.  Mostly I have been just trying things out and doing leves on my own. Archer is my solo class, its the one with no strings attached. Its the one that my husband hasn’t imagined a paring between it and a class he likes, so I don’t have to worry about out-leveling him, since I like to play three times as much as he does.  I can play it all I want, it is my freedom, my own pet project, and I’ve been loving it.

Being new to the idea of archer, I have been reading up on it a little. The first thing I found was that multi-shot is definitely a suggested ability.  Today at lunch, I went home and logged in a few minutes to see how many archer guild marks I had, and I had just enough, so I traveled to the Archer’s Guild in Gridania and bought it from Cassandra for 6000 guildmarks.  So tonight when I get home, or maybe tomorrow early morning before work I’ll test it out.  I’ve been doing alright without it, but we’ll see how much it helps. :)
