So couple different things happened this weekend.
My Husband has been struggling with his character for awhile. Not sure why exactly, but his Rogaedyn has been hard to play as of late, and doesn’t update properly. Even though he should have 99 leve quests available, (as he only plays when I drag him over there) for whatever reason it was still only giving him 8. total accrued. The next day, it showed he could get 44, but then later it went back to saying he only had 8 accrued, and he most certainly did not do any levequests in between. I had thought maybe he was looking at something wrong, but then I checked it out. Something is definitely wrong with the character.
Because of this and the persisting camera issue, he just isn’t enjoying playing that character anymore. I don’t know if its part of being a Rogaedyn, but the character is very slow to respond and misses quite frequently no matter what stats and equipment he has on. So he made the decision to retire Blindrage for a bit. He’s not going to get rid of him, but he was thinking that he might wait to put anymore effort into him until 2.0 comes, and then maybe in the port over to the new systems, whatever glitch will clear up and maybe things will be better.. We’ll see how it goes.
So in the meantime, He recreated his original character from FFXI, so I created another character in order to play with her.
We had fun playing, and even was able to enjoy some time with an old friend Kundala aka Kun Dala
Saturday we were going to see about getting a group together to do TotoRak Dungeon for the “Imperial Devices” quest for people in our LS. I couldn’t do it because I had forgotten my son had been promised something and I needed to take care of that. Others were trying to finish up some things, so I suggested we wait and do it Sunday.
Was all excited to go with the LS on Sunday, but then had Family end up dropping by unannounced and then staying for awhile longer than they initially had thought they would, so I didn’t get to do it with the LS.
When I knew I was at the very least going to be later than anticipated, I logged on and told them that we had family over, and it would be at the very least an hour, and that they could go ahead and run it without me.. but I don’t think they did, so I kinda feel bad. It ended up being quite a bit longer. By time I was able to login, none of them were on.
I always feel bad when things come up and I can’t end up being there for something I suggested in the first place, or to help people get through a quest or something. Life has a way lately of not letting me follow-through sometimes, and I hate that feeling. I don’t want to be thought of as “That” girl.. the one that offers, but then doesn’t help, because I’m really not that way, but things just seem to happen lately. ><
All that said, the visit had been important. Those family members had surprised us with a visit, and are going to be leaving on an extended trip. We won’t likely see them for a few years or more, so it was a case of real life > game, which is my mindset. I needed to be with them, just wish I had known before hand so that I wouldn’t have suggested something I couldn’t follow through with.
Anyways..
I did end up getting a quick run through Toto-Rak to see what it was like. A new friend of mine was kind of bored doing leves and offered to run me through there so I could see kinda what it was all about. Its a good, because then hopefully when I do end up going with the LS, I will kinda know the basic idea. From what he told me, its kind of a puzzle. You walk around and collect these yellow glowing photo-cells. There are only 16 of them in the whole place, and there are 4 different gates. You need 4 of the photo-cells to open each of the gates.
From what I understand, one gate opens an area to where you do your initial quest where you talk to the seedseer and some moogles that had been trapped in the maw.
You talk to them, and then you can leave and finish the quest. However my friend did end up taking me to fight one of the Bosses in there. A Spider-like Miteling. (I should have taken a picture).
He killed it, and some chests appeared and he opened them. I felt bad later, because I don’t know what all we got, but I think I might have ended up with most of the things. I realized the next time I logged in that I’d received like 4 different items from that excursion. I hope Vyle hadn’t wanted anything that I had gotten. I just never really pay attention to the “loot list”. I’ll have to ask him later, I was so distracted just looking around and trying to figure out how to get out after we were done, that I didn’t pay attention.
Also this weekend I had been able to reach Archer level 30 though which was convienient as two of the items I had ended up getting had been a Level 30 top (Poacher’s Tunic) and a Level 30 hat (Poacher’s Hat). Robin Hood-esque type pieces, so kinda fit with the Archer thing.
Also, since I now had enough points, I was able to get my chocobo.
I deviated from my FFXI naming convention a bit this time. In FFXI, my chocobo’s name was Capitaine Jack. Which had been a combination of available names that the game had picked. Since I love Pirates of the Carribean, it was kinda fun. This time however, we could pick our own name, so I actually named my chocobo Phoenix.
Me & Phoenix:

Argh, I hate when that happens! I have a bud of mine that seemingly makes a point of it to show up and not call before hand. It’s cool and all, but like you said, knowing beforehand to alter plans instead of just hitting the ground running would be nice >.> Hate it when there is really nothing you can do and life wins out over ‘the game’ no matter what. But then again I love to have more options available to me, so I guess getting stuck with only one option isn’t gonna tickle my funny bone no matter what the topic XD
Hope your family has a good time on that extended trip, and stays safe! Lotta unrest out here. Plus zombies. Never know when those guys will crop up.
Sorry your hubby isn’t able to play that toon of his
