It ended up being a crazy night… that last one. The first few hours online, I was able to help the linkshell as we recorded a 2.0 Q&A episode with SamboNZ. I kind of can’t wait to see how it turns out although I know it will be a little while. It was a whole lot of footage that he’s going to have to wade through.
8 hours is how long we were logged in… from the beginning of filming until the point the servers were shut down. The last two hours was riddled with issues, as I couldn’t seem to stay connected reliably, part being the over taxation of the servers with everyone scrambling to login…. wishing to see the final hours, and part being my internet connection.
While I didn’t get to participate in the fighting in Mor Dhona, I did get to live vicariously through a few of my Linkshell members that were on mumble with me at the time, and a few that streamed the parts of the event that they could stay connected.

I did however finally make it back in for the last 15 minutes the server was up, and was able to join some members of Distant World on a hill outside Uldah.. I’ll post those pictures in this article tomorrow, so you can check back then if you’d like to see them. (Sorry I’m unorganized.. I just don’t have them on this computer)
And then as the servers went down SE decided to give us the following gift… It took my breath away, and made me a little emotional. I imagine it has more impact on people who recognize the characters and know the story behind them.. but It was a beautiful ending! I’m going to miss this version of the game so much!
I can’t wait for 2.0 A Realm Reborn!
That video was so freaking epic… one of the best CG work I’ve seen from SE, and that’s saying something. Bahamut emerging from Dalamud was jaw-dropping. Anyway, I look forward to Sambo’s video!
