This game is at least fun, and interesting. The bad part is that there is not a lot of real good documentation on it yet, so If you don’t pay attention to what the NPC’s tell you to do the first time, then you can be really lost for awhile. Once you are familiar with the area then I’m sure it’ll be fine, but there is no looking back to find out what direction you were supposed to head if you get in a hurry and click through what the NPC has to say. I finished my training on “Trainee Island” and went looking for the Teleport guy that would send me to the mainland where the game actually begins. There is something that I noticed, it said that once you reach level 15, you can’t go back to “Trainee Island” anymore. That being said, they had an option to set Trainee Island as your “Return Point” I think it called it, so I did that before being warped to the mainland.
I journey’d “To the continent” and picked up my first quest there. First thing I noticed.. is that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE gets and has pets! I stumbled around to find the place where you would buy the card to try and capture your pet with, but was unsuccessful, finding only someone with a bazaar that was selling them for a ridicioulous amount of “Rupees” (gil). After a little shouting, I found someone willing to show me how exactly you get out of the city, as I had cased the entire perimeter without finding a door or passage way, or anything. Turns out there is lots of teleporting in this game, and you have to be teleported out of the city.
Once outside, I was sent to a really beautiful area. I was fighting on my own, when I finally figured out that someone was talking to me. It took me a bit. I figured out how to talk out loud, and spoke with a very nice individual who was asking me if I needed a pet, he had an extra card and said I could have it.
I thanked him, and he very graciously walked me through on how to equip it, and how to summon the pet. Also ended up accidentally helping me realize there was a whole other page of skills I could open.
I was very pleased as it ended up being a big cat, and thats the pet I wanted. In the newly discovered skills, I bought some buffs with my Job Points (jp)
My real life honey, who was playing Blindrage the Galka in FFXI, is also playing, and has figured things out a bit quicker than me. He’s actually had his pet a couple days now. He is an “Asura” race named Blindrage! His pet is a big turtle thing that he calls “Tiny”… I don’t know what I would name mine once we get to the point we can name them.
