Self reasoning post….
John 8:7 When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Many people look down on people who enjoy MMORPG’s, seeing it as a waste of time and money. I think it is only wasteful if you let it rule you, and if you aren’t able to balance your priorities. Obviously it is a problem if you are more concerned about your pixelated character than your real life. While there are those who are crazily addicted, I do contend that there still is a good chunk of us out there that are able to maintain the distinction. They have the will power and sense of responsibility to draw the line and play for enjoyment, which is what it is meant for.
Anyway.. what started this post is a conversation I overheard. Someone made a comment about how their child likes to play WoW and that it is such a waste of money..
The speaker said this while sipping from their daily cup of flavored coffee from the local name brand coffee drive thru.
It got me to thinking… I don’t drink coffee, or any specialty drinks, I don’t have cable TV at my house, and I don’t go out to the movies but once or twice a year. If their child is anything like me, in that regards, then I think they are still doing alright.
To play FFXI, the cost (for me with Katella & my 1 mule) is $13.95 / month. When you break this down, it costs me roughly 47 cents a day for this form of entertainment… and that is still less than an average cup of coffee…
When things come up, I close my account till I can play again.. I’ve done it before, and I’m sure there will be points in time where I will have to do it again.. but until then..
I won’t let someone make me feel bad about enjoying my coffee in-game….
