The more things change… the more they stay the same.. My NPC’s: Old & New
Its funny to me how I can have an initial thought, then spend lots of time second guessing and entertaining other ideas, weighing pros and cons, but really often in the end I go with my initial thought anyway. Is that a bad thing? lol
In FFXI, my Adventuring Fellow was a hume male named Gunnar. Towards the end of my stay in Vana’diel, because of lack of play time, I spent a lot of time with Gunnar and my puppet Serenade.
My main mule in FFXI was a hume named Laurelai, and I had one other alternate char, an elvaan named Jilliana.
So naturally since I sort of like the familiar, In FFXIV, my 1st retainer ended up being a combination of my two mules… an Elezen female named Laurelai. My second ended up being a female lalafell with white hair, as that was the closest I could come to a comparative Serenade.
Elezen Laurelai is rather abraisive at times. I think I must be pulling her away from something terribly exciting as she seems commonly annoyed at me for wanting to converse with her. lol 🙂 Serenade on the other hand is friendlier, but definitely has her eyes on the prize. She constantly reminds me that her purpose is to be making gil for us, so I kind of feel obligated to keep her in the Clothier ward.. lol. Who ever heard of peer pressure from NPC’s? lol
I finished my “Fade to White” quest and finally selected my Path Companion, and I do mean FINALLY. I must have seriously spent an actual hour going back and forth between first what class I wanted them to be (torn between Gladiator, Conjurer, and Thm), then secondly by the race and gender.
After much deliberation, to where my kids were even trying to help me make the decision (I’m a dork.. I know).. I finally ended up picking what I had initially thought in the first place.
A bit younger than I had hoped, was kind of hoping for a closer match to my original with the beard and all, but he will do.. hehe. I present my Path Companion Gunnar, a Hyur Midlander Gladiator..
