I kind of have been in need of a new bow for my archer/bard for a bit now. My bow, though I love it (Cobalt Calvary Bow with Accuracy +25) is only level 43 I believe.
Note that I don’t discuss these in order of wished, but rather backwards based on the probability of being able to obtain said item… lol
Wish List # 1 – Probability List #5 – Artemis Bow (Relic)
I know that I should be driven to plain just focus on grinding my way to the relic since its the best out there. The thing is though, it seems nigh impossible with my current schedule. This one a mixture of luck and grind, often my random luck is a bit lower than most others.. lol.
Luck needed: 9 tokens from three different Hamlets and to not have a very expensive weapon break when trying to be double melded.
I’m just not seeing it as anything that will be done anytime shortly, so I’m just collecting items for it as I go, but are not in any big hurry, its kind of on a back burner for me. I just don’t have the gil or time to focus on it right now, even though a bow harp would be pretty sweet. Eventually I think I’ll get there, but its going to take me awhile.
Wish List # 2 – Probability List #4 Garuda’s Spine
Hopefully soon we’ll get a chance to do an actual Garuda run, (incidentally that seems to be the primal bow that I want the most atm) but it seems a bit of the way out there yet since I have only helped with Mini-Garuda fights, and haven’t done a Garuda (Hard) at all. I have heard that it is very difficult not only in a strategic sense, but also in getting people willing to go try it and die a few times… or a lot of times.
Wish List # 5 – Probability List #3 – Mischievous Mogbow
This is the Mog bow from the Moogle fight. Last week we had taken a bunch of Distant World LS members and got their NM’s so that they could even do the Moogle Fight. We took that group in for an initial run, just to see what it was like.
It was chaos.. lol. I actually haven’t had much time to really look into what the strategies are for that one, but the reason was just to give everyone (including me) a taste of what its like, no one really expected to win. It was fun, we died to the king lol, but it was still fun to experience. I very much appreciate this Distant World LS I’m in. Its kind of nice that people are ok to do actual practice runs and let people experience things before focusing on having to win.
Wish List # 3 – Probability List #2 Grand Company – Serpent Lieutenant’s Bow
I’ve also had my eye on the newest Grand Company bow, which I decided was in actuality probably the most viable goal for me to shoot for. Only 50k Grand company seals a promotion and an NM, and it would be mine… muhahahaha… Ok, well seeing as I own only 15k grand company seals right now, this one also might still be a bit of time away, but the point is to obtain it is alot less luck based than the others making it something that is more likely to be reachable in my current playtime schedule situation.
Wish List # 4 – Probability List #1 Ifrit’s bow
With time kind of closing in on me with the approach of 2.0 beta, Ifrit’s bow has kind of been my focus. I had been kind of stressing a bit over getting enough Ifrit wins to get enough tokens to be able to trade in for an Ifrit Bow. I had determined (knowing my often lacking in the luck department) that realistically it was my most probable chance to obtain any of the Primal weapons. I say most probable because if you have a good group, this is super easy, If not, well.. you know. I had however obtained 3 tokens thus far, and because it seems to be the primal that people shout for the most I just figured it was my best bet.
Minecraft/FFXIV – Ul’dah Recreation
A few of us have started a huge project. We have decided to replicate Ul’dah. So couple nights ago I was logged into Minecraft working on an Uldah recreation project………..
………………when Merikosum Neaman told me they were doing an Ifrit run. I logged in to FFXIV and after someone left, I joined their group as a whitemage, not as a bard which is what I usually play in Ifrit.
Now ordinarily I love whitemage, its kind of at my core for the love of Final Fantasy games, but I have come to the conclusion that I am NOT a good whitemage in Ifrit. I should clarify… at least not if I’m stationed on the left side by the Blackmages. I’ve come to this conclusion, not because I don’t heal people, not because I don’t keep stoneskin & protect and throw a regen or benediction out as needed, but rather because it doesn’t seem to matter that on my screen I seem to be far enough away from the cracks, I still get hit and die making others feel they have to figure out how and when they can raise me (which incidentally adds to my frustration.. I’m the whm, they aren’t supposed to have to raise me!).
My other beefs with playing whitemage in FFXIV in general is UI related and will be fixed in 2.0.
I’m not always a fan of the “Hotbar”, especially with casting jobs. I want more macro functionality like FFXI… There I could weave wonderfully helpful macros that helped me accomplish what I needed to happen quickly, and there they were labeled with WORDS – not reused pictures that I might not immediately recognize as being the spell I’m looking for because another class that I play has something on its hotbar that looks real similar. >< I want the system to be smart enough to know that I don’t want to cast Aero on a party member or a mining node, or on the chocobo’s we are trying to protect. I want the system to know I don’t want to cure a mining node either!
…. anyway.. back on subject…
My biggest frustration playing whitemage, is that currently you aren’t listed in your own party list. Seems like a small thing because yes, I could either tab to where my health is listed, or set down my game pad and click F1 to target myself, but to me its a clunky process that shouldn’t be there, and it takes precious time to do that. You are part of your party therefore your name should appear on the party’s list. I’m so conditioned to watch the party bars that I forget to take care of myself and sometimes don’t realize I’m as hurt as I am until its too late. Targeting, even though its easier now that I know I can scroll up and down through the party list , rather than trying to tab through everything, or spin your camera to find the party member, still isn’t very friendly to whitemages in my opinion.
…. but its almost water under the bridge I suppose… lets raise a glass to the promise of 2.0. 🙂
but back on track, we were talking about me not being a good whitemage in this Ifrit fight and me trying to avoid all Ifrit’s little surprises, I just seemed to die… a whole lot! I think I was raised 3 times. It was a disaster, I was totally embarrassed and angry both at myself and at my video card for showing me that I was far enough away to miss the cracks when the server said I apparently wasn’t. STOP LYING VIDEO CARD!! lol.. ok anyway…
This particular round, we were still successful. Either the 12 intervened or Ifrit took pity on me for killing me so often… (maybe just because I played on his server in FFXI… lol) … I don’t know.. but When I clicked on the box at the end, I was expecting just the normal dark matter. This time however, not only did I get a token, but words “You obtain an Ifrit’s Bow” appeared in my chat log.
OH MY GOODNESS!! You have to be kidding! I check my inventory and sure enough! It was there!
Aurum Vale Run
Also this week, I participated in an Aurum Vale run that was more than just for someone’s quick AF retrieval. We had a group of novices with only Lucife & Arrietty knowing what to expect as we headed off to fight Coincounter. The first attempt we wiped, but we had him down to 5% health, which I thought was decent for people who had never tried it before. We won the second time, doesn’t seem to be that hard of a fight really. I kind of look forward to trying it again soon. 🙂
