This past week marked Distant World’s 2nd year anniversary at being an FFXIV community! Lots have happened in the past two years, we’ve grown and changed, but the heart of our community remains the same, and that is something I’m most thankful for!
Our Anniversary party held additional special meaning, as we finally purchased our FC Home. While not everyone was able to make it to the actual purchase and anniversary party luckily Merik so kindly livestreamed it.
At this time I think its important to say a special thank you to Pico Man, who worked tirelessly week after week bringing in gil made from his crafting and gathering. Nicos Gilmaster and Mini Ninja deserve a nod as well, as they both spent time gathering and crafting also to sell things to go towards getting the house. Imani & Lucina for lots of crafted donations for our FC Character to sell. Also a huge thanks to all our community members who stepped up, and helped out with the numerous Treasure Hunt Fundraiser events! Thanks to the community members who spent their time and gil acquiring maps for those runs, and for all our members that I can’t even begin to name all here, who donated gil and items whatever whenever they could and to those who really helped make it happen on that last day by helping us raise final amount needed the day of the event! You all are wonderful, and you deserve to enjoy this house!!
Here we are purchasing the land. Fun fact, if you have people standing on the plot when you go to place the house… it won’t let you.. lol..
Here is our house once it was bought. We went with the composite one… and its currently purple to match our crest. ^^
I got a chance to garden! That was kinda cool too!
And here is us relaxing inside after some hard work went in re-decorating!! (This picture was actually a bit later in the week much after the event.. haha)
SamboNZ even ended up being able to make an appearance at the anniversary party as well. We decided to go to Ul’dah for a quick screenshot in the “birthplace” of Distant World.
Two years before, Blindrage had convinced me to stay up really late, and go to this spot in Ul’dah to see SamboNZ.. a Let’s Player he had been watching, and to see if we could join the linkshell he was creating. I figured it couldn’t hurt.. I had a few linkshells already, but none that I was able to participate too much with. I like meeting new people, so I agreed.. Here is a picture of the original gathering in 1.0. You can’t see everyone, but the the members I distinctly remember being there, who are still with us was Seraphis Thrallwyn (SamboNZ), Pico Man, Blindrage Skywalker (now Gallifrey), Mini Ninja, Ommos Ravanger shown in this old picture.
Back to present day… We met up in the spot that Distant World Linkshell was created. Truly such a chance thing that I happened to be there, but I’m still so very thankful for it, because it gave me the privilege to meet some really dear friends that came to mean a lot to me.
At the Anniversary party, I got to meet up with some other dear friends I’ve really missed… Old friends like Lucife Xavikon, and Lady Kria. Its been very really fun to enjoy our new place with so many of our members.
This week earned enough Soldiery Tokens to obtained my Weathered Daystar Robe of Healing. I like the detail on it, but I don’t really like how it hangs on my character, so ended up glamouring the Cashmere robe of Healing over top it.
It is really nice having a standard meeting place for our FC. We had our first “Mender’s Monday” in our new home!!
This past Monday also held a sad farewell though.. Sunny Day, one of our active members and someone I consider a dear friend had decided to try their luck on one of the North American servers where a few other of our DW Community members play. Really sad to see him go, but truly wish him the very best, and sincerely hope that his new server treats him kindly! They are gaining a pretty amazing scholar now going by the name of Sunny Denn. You are always welcome back on Masamune Sunny! Don’t forget that! We all ❤ you!! 🙂
Here ‘s a quick shot of some of the DW Officers. Pictured is Pico Man, Merikosum Neaman, Lady Kria, Katella Avenlea, Jynx McNinja, and Lucife Xavikon. Sadly we were missing Mini Ninja, Nicos Gilmaster and Clax Buran for this photo.
Another cool thing that happened this week, was that Carbuncle Rubylight, me and one other DW member all had our screenshots chosen for the “Little Ladies Day” Screenshot contest on the official FFXIV Forums, and we received our ingame rewards! Here is our choker!
Later after hearing it talked up so much, I finally spent some time on the Hildebrand quests and fought the Battle on the Big Bridge with Gilgamesh. Pretty Hilarious fight! I was made so tiny!! Merik recorded that fight as well!.
This face was so appropriate:
One of my most favorite parts of the Hildebrand quests was this Sherlock Reference:
Also this last week, a good friend gifted me an Opo-opo! Its pretty darn cute! I was sort of never expecting to get one, and then I got surprised with it! Thanks so much!!
Then this morning I ran Brayflox HM again trying to get tokens, and ended up getting one drop in my inventory… so now I get to share the love with my love, and Blindrage gets an Opo-opo pet too!
For the longest time I had been only keeping 10k for repairs and always donating anything above that amount directly to the FC house fund. With the house purchased, it allowed me to actually keep some of my gil haha.. I broke down and splurged a little bit on myself! I ended up purchasing the Leviathin Tidal Barding for my chocobo Phoenix. It was just shy of 200k, but I still think it was worth it. I don’t have the crafting class required to make it leveled enough to make my own, and I think it looks simply amazing! Such a good design! Now I’m back to my standard 10k left, but I’ll make it back in dungeons. It had been a long time since I’d bought anything for me. ^^
Went in with Miga on his story Leviathin run. I may be odd, but I really enjoy that fight, and while I really don’t really have the desire to fight the other primal extreme modes, I think I’m going to have to spend some time on just clearing them, because I do like the Leviathin fight, and am actually interested in trying its “Extreme” version.
Another fun tidbit that hapened this week, was that Gamerescape announced the winners of the Titan Valentines contest, and my submission featuring Distant World members was one of the ones selected!
