Anniversary Celebration is all coming to a close. Here FFXIII’s Lightning paid us another visit…
Participated in a couple of her FATES while running around looking for hunt marks.. I think I may have made this clockwork thing mad.
Purchased the slime hat from the Dragon Quest event… are you jelly? (bad pun… horrible pun.. I’ll stop ^^)
Its kind of funny, while I hadn’t spent as much time on Ramuh EX as I would have liked to.. mostly because the player base was too involved in hunts, I did get to try it 4 or 5 times in Party Finder and most times we were lucky to get to even the adds phase.
Patch 2.3 came and with it Ramuh EX was added to duty finder, and I remember hearing all the people say what a nightmare that was going to be. I still had it on my list of things to do, so I decided to try it out in Duty Finder this weekend and see how it would go. Couldn’t be too much worse right?
I queued up and the group won on the third try, so I finally got it crossed off my list! People corrected themselves when mistakes were made, and it was the easiest group I had tried it with. I decided to try it once more so queued up a second time and got totally different group. Very similar experience, everyone pretty calm and aware of the party even without the voice chat. We won on the second try that time, so now I’m 2 for 2 in duty finder with no voice chat and 0/5 in party finder with voice chat…. lol.
I’ve always actually thought it was a rather fun fight. I saw the ring of casting and aiming drop but I was on Scholar, so didn’t get either. I may start to spend a little more time with it since Duty Finder parties for it aren’t as discouraging as I had imagined. I would love the healing ring.. or honestly pretty much anything I could get from there.. lol I do really like that fight.
Bittersweet it was that I completed out the Ixali questline…
Actually enjoyed that one over all the beastman tribe dailies, I’m not even that big of a crafter, but ended up getting my Carpenter to 50, and my Armorer to 25 out of the deal… and the story was pretty decent as well, so enjoyed myself.
Sadly now I’m back to having to do the Sahagan dailies and working to get that one finished out. Not sure why.. but just really don’t like the Sahagan much. I actually always hate running though that zone more than any of the other beastman areas. While I suppose its brightly colored, it should seem cheery.. but I don’t enjoy the scenery there either, so that may be part of the problem.
…But I am now focusing on them again, and will push though it this time mostly because I really want this:
A few of us helped Miga get his Turn 5 win.. 🙂
With the addition of Patch 2.3, Visited some of the areas they’d added in Revanant’s Toll. Look at these busy bees just working away! Can’t wait to be able to explore what will be upstairs.. ^^
Decided to put personal progression aside for the time being and spent more time the last few weeks hosting T6 practice runs trying to get more people in our community some experience with the mechanics of the fight. For some it was their very first times, for others they’d only seen it once or twice before, and some others just want extra practice to be able to finally beat this thing. Had some really good runs. For a few, their first session got them to 32%. I think the very best run with newer people we did we got it to 25% before needing to call it a day.
Mostly its been DW members that were available and whoever has joined in through Party Finder. We even had some newer Japanese players join in a few times during these practice sessions. We got to exercise our creativity in conveying that you can’t move during Blighted Bouquet to one new Japanese player. That took a bit, but he finally understood and started lasting a bit longer. 🙂
It can be a bit daunting for those who haven’t been able to successfully join up with party finder groups. There is a slight issue where at this current point in time you are either expected to know exactly what to do, or (on our server) are required to speak Japanese. Videos are nice and all, but there is nothing that beats the actual experience when learning a fight. I would love there to be a lot more English speaking people comfortable with these fights and for many to not feel so barred by the content or prevented because of language requirements.
Most of the English speakers that are doing this content regularly on our server are either in already in statics, or don’t really want to wait on progression by joining a static where they have to give others a chance to learn, or (what seems to be the case for many) that their real life schedules just don’t really allow for consistently joining in on static runs.
Japanese Parties, (even JP Only ones) actually seem to be fine to let you stay if you can convey that you know what to do, or if you tell them you know a little but are familiar with the fight. The problem is getting players to the point where they have seen the mechanics enough and do know what to do. English players don’t tend to use party finder all that much it seems, so it makes it difficult for some to gain that experience. What I’m hoping comes from this is that at least a few more will people will be more comfortable, and will start initiating runs themselves, and giving even more people the chance to participate and progress.
We really do need more English speakers to start hosting party finder groups in general! I’ll work at catching back up a bit later once we have more people doing this content successfully. Hopefully they won’t run out of High Allagan Healing Robes by then. 😛 Its the piece I want the very most, and if you visit North Shroud, there are already so many on our server who have one! Its impressiveness at seeing someone wearing one may have become less, but I don’t care, I still want one. Save one for me Yoshi-P!!
Here is a screenshot I got right before one groups run while we were explaining things. Euramon and Merik are pictured here. I thought it turned out pretty cute. 🙂
Other than that, mostly just had a great time hanging out with people.. Here is Lucina in her cool Ninja-esque hat. I’m tempted to get one myself.. and I can since its Twin Adder! 🙂
Here is Mini Ninja’s beard.. one that would make even Denmo a bit jealous…. ^^
I found Pico ^^
Found this Redmage look-alike in CT2
Other than that.. More mark FATES and more Hunts.
Looking foward to more info about 2.4.. Can’t wait!
I missed out on the Liveletter.. wasn’t feeling good and totally forgot, but I did get to see a clip of Shiva’s arena and it looks great! Here is an English Translation for some of the questions covered at the Tokyo Game Show. I am so ready for some new dungeons!
