Loving how Revenant’s Toll is shaping up. 🙂
Rafflesia is down! I repeat… Rafflesia is down!
As I mentioned before, we’ve been taking groups into Turn 6 most evenings trying to get people exposed to the fight and get extra practice in. In doing so, we’ve experienced some pretty crazy things.
For example, upon resetting after a wipe, one member accepted a raise they had been given on the inside of the arena. Rafflesia promptly put them back deep in the ground, then ran through the zone line to the outside of the arena to come get the rest of the party! We hadn’t even entered the arena. It was crazy! I had to take a screenshot! I even got thorn whip chained to Jynx on the outside! Insane!
The trick to this fight (and honestly most coil fights) really seems to be #1 Learning the mechanics, #2 Getting your group to keep paying attention to what is going on and react accordingly without getting distracted, #3 Hoping that the Twelve smile upon you and allow the RNG parts to be a bit kinder.
This past weekend, I’m delighted to report that one of the sessions ended up with what was for most of them a first time win over Turn 6! Huge congratulations to Jynx (first T6 win on this character), Euramon, Skye, Jukari, Nicos, Lt Death, and Merikosum! I’m so happy that I got to come with all of you guys on your first win! It was the first time for me that I had got a win with a group of friends rather than a PUG group. Winning is great, but its so much more fun when done with friends! I can’t wait to help a few more friends get their win!
This particular win we used the burn method, and we even did it without Selene’s boost. Eos got to come out and play! Earlier in the week we had been often having to totally stop dps in order to not push phases too quickly. I asked the group the day before if they cared if I brought out Eos next time, and they said they didn’t think it would hurt, so I did and we won on the second try!
I know that most scholars rely heavily on Selene, but to be quite honest, I feel that I’m far better at being able to manage both healing and dpsing when I have Eos out because I can control exactly what she does and when she does it, and I can do more than one thing at a time. Selene I think is beneficial if your dps actually needs a slight boost, but if the dps is fine, then Eos with her whispering dawn (regen) and fey illuminations (increased healing potency) is really nice to have.
Jukari got a tanking bracelet (I think), Merikosum got an Oil, Lt. Death got the Allagan Tomestone, and Nicos got some gloves for his dragoon (pictured below). ^^
After the win, we went into T7 which was also the first time a few of them had seen that.
T7 is actually the fight I’m most excited for. I don’t myself have a win on it yet as I hadn’t really yet tried, but it is where my High Allagan robe of healing is hiding and I hope to find it someday.
Overall, we had an enjoyable introductory run! The arena is also rather interesting, so much going on around you. Curious about those green pods in the background.. I wonder what they hold and if we’ll ever see what is in there… ^^
Its kind of ironic to me, I’ve seen people that have proven themselves during past dps check content being told that they don’t have the dps for this fight and I’ve come to realize that in general that is entirely the wrong point to be focusing on. Especially if you are actually trying to work through coil content with a static group.
What it boils down to is comfort level. The more comfortable your members are with mechanics, the more dps a party can dish out. Its not that players don’t have it in them, if they don’t “get it” right off the bat. Its generally that more practice is actually needed. Sometimes once or twice a week isn’t enough and when you have real life schedules and locked content to manage it can get tricky.
Primal EX goodies
I ended up doing a few Ramuh EX farming runs this week, and I ended up getting a few goodies!
While its not better than my Yagrush, I was excited simply to have a Ramuh weapon at all. Look here is my new whitemage staff.. the Adjudicator’s Gavel! I didn’t get a picture, but I also ended up with a Judgement ring of aiming for my bard, and a levin orb.
I had reopened the Primal Focus quest a long time ago, and it has been sitting open in my duty list. On a whim, I opted to do a Titan EX run. Did a Duty Finder with it, and the group I went with we one shot it. I ended up getting the Tremor Earrings of Aiming from that fight. Again not better than my current weathered earring of Aiming, but it is the one and only Titan gear item that I’ve ever won. I did luck out and get a random Earthen Crag that I didn’t notice I had gotten until later.
Spent some time dong the Hildebrand quest. This set I have to admit is my favorite so far.
It was fun tussling with the mandragora group!
Got to know some other NPC’s… these two I decided looked like Katella’s Grandparents. ^^
Hildebrand’s antics were as goofy as always… can’t wait for the next set! 🙂
