Busy weekend! I ended up gaining access to the Dark Guardian’s dungeon, and actually beat the final boss. I won’t give too many details, because I know that people are still working through the story, but I did enjoy this game’s story-line. My husband was teasing me that now that I finished the story-line, that we’d have to get rid of the game.. lol. I definitely am not, because its not like other games where once you finish the main story part that its finished. I still have only finished 19/30 of the dungeons. I still have to level the other jobs, and I’m still looking for the “Diamond Saddle & Talons”. Once I do all of that, then I may just start over… hehe.
I love the games where Square Enix has worked to make it so multi-fauceted that there is always something to be working on, and that it takes awhile to complete it.
Once you finish the story-line, you open up a couple whole new dungeons, and one of them I read has 100 floors! I now have the “Chocobo’s Memories” and “Croma’s future” dungeon to work though, and the max cap of Croma’s is 90. I’m currently at 63, so that’s a bit to go.
I ended up finishing out Volg’s memories. I’ll post more on it when I have my notes in front of me, but basically I did Whitemage, Blackmage, Dragoon, and then Dark Knight for all the rest of them. I was able to beat them and open up the Ninja job which I’m excited to try out.
One hit wonders…. I’m still having a heck of a time with both Charlotte’s & Claire’s Memories. They are both 1 HP dungeons, so there is no room to mess up. Basically you have to constantly take out anything near you, because if they get to you first.. you are toast. I think I’m up to attempt # 12 on Claire’s, and #4 on Charlotte’s whose dungeon has the added difficulty of not giving you a map, and keeping you blind the entire time, so you don’t see anything unless they are pretty close to you already. I’ve been using the Blackmage for its AoE spells, plus it gets magic back pretty quickly.
Regarding my post title.. Square Enix… please.. please.. please release some more information on the magic jobs for FFXIV… I promise I’ll be a good little Tar..err… Lalafell! lol.. 🙂
Went site trolling for information today and there still isn’t anything real exciting (least to me) that has been released since Christmas. Small ramblings that Xbox may get to be another platform that it will be available on. Honestly I don’t have an Xbox, so it didn’t really spark any interest for me personally, but I think it would be pretty silly for SE to not include it if they are able. I don’t think it was ever Square Enix being stingy about it, its all business talk that has to get sorted out.
On the Chocobo’s Dungeon front, I am now level 26 and have a level 7 whitemage chocobo, all cute in her white & red cape. I got the spell Holy yesterday, which is extremely fun, and so far is much more satisfying than my Holy in FFXI was.. hehe.. As far as I can tell, I have one more level until I have all the spells available to the job.
I was also was able to pick up another job. I now have Dragoon, which so far is pretty cute too..
Kinda disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be a way to take pictures in game.. maybe I’ll see if I can find something. I took a picture with my regular camera, but it really didn’t turn out well.
Was told that Squeeker’s funeral had been this past Saturday. Sad that I couldn’t have made the trip out of state to go, but I don’t think he’d have held it against me. Sure miss the fun texts and chatting with him but… thankful I guess that he’s not in so much pain anymore. Miss you buddy!
Holy cow! I played Chocobo’s dungeon for a couple hours last night.. I had so much fun! It is alot easier to control than I had originally thought. Currently my Chocobo is level 15 with a level 4 Whitemage. I have cure, protect, shell, dia, cura, slow.. already.
In addition I was having fun using the little books that you pick up on the mobs. I was poisoning and blinding the mobs along the way. One thing I’ve learned is that it doesn’t auto save for you, so its important to save at intellegent intervals. So far I believe that once you enter a dungeon, you cannot save until you are out of it, so its a good idea to save before you go in. This also comes in handy if you accidentally sell something you didn’t mean to.. just reset and log back into your game and it will put you in the last saved spot – before you sold that all-of-the-sudden-important item… so use it wisely.
I save before I enter every dungeon mostly because if you happen to die, when you get kicked out of the dungeon, you loose all the items you had picked up. So resetting is useful in these instances so that you maybe don’t loose as much gil on items etc..
I also “honed” or upgraded my gear – saddle and talons. You can also use the saving trick in between each attempt to hone, that way if it goes wrong or breaks, then you aren’t out the gil and item.
Once you are able to enter the Guardian of the Flame Dungeon, you can use it to get levels by fighting a few levels of mobs, then escaping the dungeon to sell items, rinse.. lather.. repeat. This can help you be a little more prepared for some of the other regular memory dungeons. Although there are some memory dungeons where preparation is not going to help you as you can be level capped, blinded, have other afflictions , and possibly all your items put in your storage before entry, so don’t get too comfortable .. lol!
Overall so far, I really enjoy this game on its own merits.. not just as a distraction.. hehe.. 🙂
So we had ordered Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon for the Wii, and we received it yesterday. So far it is just too cute!
Basically the premise is that you are the chocobo (creatively named “Chocobo”) who along with Cid (a treasure hunter) gets transferred to the town of LostTime. Everyone there has lost part of their memories due to the ringing of the Bell of Oblivion in the middle of town.
With the help of a baby who came out of the sky, you are able to enter people’s minds and fight your way through their dungeons that are plagued with mobs. Once you complete the dungeon you collect the individual’s memories, which allows that person to remember things.
You also have different jobs that you can change between. So far I have Whitemage (yay!), Natural, Blackmage, Knight, and Dancer. There are 10 jobs in total, so I still have to find Dragoon, Theif, Dark Knight, Scholar, and Ninja.
You’ll notice there is now a Chocobo’s Dungeon link list which I’ll add links that I find regarding the game. Here is the first one.. http://faqs.ign.com/articles/893/893882p1.html
I was originally worried about how difficult movement would be, since there is so much range when dealing with a wii remote, but it hasn’t been bad. I think its increasingly cute that when you are in your item screen, you can just shake the remote and it sorts your items.. lol. Its like shaking your bag.. just strikes me as cute.
As I learn more, I’ll share 🙂
